Runcorn East Railway Station

Managed by Arriva Trains Wales, Runcorn East Railway Station is on the Chester to Manchester Piccadilly line via Helsby, Frodsham and Warrington Bank Quay.

Monday to Saturday westbound services:-
Go to Chester and then forward to Llandudno Junction with some going to Holyhead or Llandudno allowing you to take a direct service to the North Wales Coast including the seaside towns of Prestayn, Rhyl, Abergele & Pensarn and Colwyn Bay.

Change at Chester for direct services to Liverpool, Cardiff, Crewe, London Euston and other destinations including Birmingham International Airport.

Monday to Saturday eastbound services go forward to Manchester Piccadilly and or Manchester Airport; change at Warrington (Bank Quay) for Wigan, Preston and Scottish destinations & at Manchester for Leeds, York & the North East/Sheffield & East Anglia.

Sunday trains go to Chester and Manchester Piccadilly and require a change for other destinations (but watch out for Rail Replacement Buses - so check your journey times!).

If you are visiting the area, take time to explore the Bridgewater Canal - our country’s first true canal.

A short walk away from the station is Runcorn Town Park where there is a Snowsports Centre and Miniature Railway.

In the locality you will also find Norton Priory Museum & Gardens, the Bluebell Cottage Gardens and the Brindley Theatre and Arts Centre.

If you have just missed your train, you will probably have an hour to wait.

There is a café a short walk away within the Murdishaw Community Centre (opening hours 9.30 to 14.00).

Leave the car park on the south side of the station and walk up the hill. The Centre is on the left. Go in through the gate and the café is on the left.

A welcome cup of tea is available here and a good value Breakfast. A good watering hole in an otherwise desolate area for refreshment.

Very handy for Runcorn East Station while waiting for a train.
