The Branch Line News - the organ of the Branch Line Society - reported on 4th June 2016 on the Halton Curve Project ....
Cost estimates have risen by £3.5M to £22M (and could nearly reach £25M) due to the rails needing replacing, OLE work at Halton junction and other increased expenses as well as reduced savings anticipated from combining signalling work wit the Weaver Junct. to Wavertree re-signalling.
The Liverpool City Region Combined Authority has agreed to extra funding.
Work on site is expected to start in June 2017 for completion in May 2018. If only they had kept the service before!" "
