Frodsham Footbridge Project

8th December 2019

A temporary scaffold footbridge will now NOT be provided at Frodsham.

Passengers must allow extra time to cross by the public road under the railway bridge.

Network Rail have advised us ....

What does the work involve?
This work will involve blast cleaning and re decorating the existing footbridge structure. In order to undertake the work, the footbridge will be closed.
As the stations footbridge will be ‘out of use’ for the duration of the scheme, station users will have to use an alternative existing walking route to go between platforms 1 and 2. There will be clear ‘wayfinding’ erected along the route.

We apologise in advance for any disturbance. Thank you for your patience during this time.

When will the work take place?
The scheme will start on the 25th November 2019 and will be completed February 2020.

In order to carry out the work there will be an element of ‘Out of Hours Working’, which will be as follows:
• Erection of access scaffolding to the existing footbridge will place between the 25th November and the 13th December 2019 during mid-week night shifts.
• The existing bridge concrete deck will be removed during 5 shifts starting on the 16th December 2019.
• Dismantling of scaffolding will take place on the 10th of February 2020 for 5 nights. The above ‘out of hours’ work activities will take place between midnight and 05.00 hrs Monday to Friday

Safety is a key priority and for this reason a large amount of this work must be carried out while trains are not running. This means carrying out a lot of our improvements during the night and at weekends.

During the work Network Rail staff and our partners are briefed to work responsibly in the local community. Please be aware that the equipment we use means some disturbance is unavoidable, however we will make every effort to minimise any unnecessary noise.
