Cheshire Best Kept Stations

Frodsham and Chester Railway Stations have scooped awards at Cheshire Best Kept Stations Awards Evening ....

Frodsham again won an award at the Cheshire Best Kept Station Awards Evening held at the Grange Theatre, Hartford on 10th January 2017.

The event, which was attended by dignitaries from across the County, many senior railway industry officials and Cheshire Station adopters was an outstanding success.

It was attended by 140 representatives from the "Community Railway Family".

Frodsham Station looked after by a team led by Janet and Philip Briggs won an award for twelve years in a row and is a tribute to the hard work undertaken by the team.  The Station forms a splendid "Gateway" to this Cheshire Market Town.

Geraint Morgan, Community Affairs Manager for Arriva Trains Wales (ATW), the Train Operating Company at Frodsham and Margaret Benson, Station Manager, were present when the Award was announced.

Arriva Train Wales have supported the work at Frodsham and the NCRUG enthusiasticallyl.

Janet has only recently stepped down as Chairman of the NCRUG.

An award was also made to Chester Station where the "Queen's 90th Birthday" had been celebrated with stalls and displays on the station concourse by the Chester Samaritans, the Ffestiniog Railway, Chester Model Railway Club, Mersey Morris Men and the NCRUG. with facilities provided by ATW and facilitated by the Manager on the day Mark Messham.

The event in June was organised by Sally Buttifant of Cheshire West and Chester Council and the Mid Cheshire Community Rail Partnership.

Mark, supported by NCRUG, received the Award on Behalf of ATW and it will be displayed at the Customer Service office at Chester Station.

Deputy Mayor of Cheshire West and Chester Council, Cllr. Razia Danials joined in the celebrations with the recipient's of both awards.
