Helsby Footbridge

13th June 2018

Helsby Footbridge works have started and two temporary footbridges are now in place.

Work has also started on the scaffold platform which will allow contractors to work on the old bridge without affecting train services.

The old bridge is expected to be closed Friday evening and the two temp bridges opened on Saturday.

Commuters are advised to allow extra time and not to rush for trains as the temporary bridge is located at the Chester end of the platforms.

Manchester services will stop just short of the main footbridge so, on the 0721 the rear coach will not be adjacent to the platform.

The old bridge is expected to close Friday evening with the two temp structures opening for passenger use over the weekend.

Work is expected to be finished in September.

The works will give us a bridge fit for passengers not only using the direct service to Manchester, but from December direct, through services to both Liverpool and Leeds.
