Improvement Works

12th January 2017 - 5th February 2017

The below letter has been sent from Network Rail, Manchester to local residents ....

12th Jan 2017
Ref No: CHW1 / 7m 34ch-12m 60ch

Dear Neighbour,

IMPROVEMENT WORKS - HELSBY Stn / FRODSHAM Jnc / SUTTON WEAVER Stn

I am writing to inform you that Network Rail needs to undertake essential improvement works

near your property. These improvements are a vital aspect of our strategy to provide a safe,

reliable and efficient railway fit for the 21st century.

Works will be undertaken between:

00:15 and 08:40 on the following Sundays 22nd , 29th of January and 5th February

23:00 and 05:00 from Monday 23rd January to Friday 27th January

This work will involve working at the trackside using on track machines, lighting, generators

and hand held tools. Safety is our number one priority and for this reason work of this type

must be carried out while trains are not running. Under our licence conditions we are

contractually obliged to work, whenever possible, at times that cause the least disruption to

train services. Unfortunately, this means carrying out a lot of our improvements during the

night and at weekends.

The equipment we use means some disturbance is unavoidable, but we will make every

effort to minimise any unnecessary noise. Furthermore, those working on site are briefed on

working responsibly in the local community.

I hope this information is helpful and we apologise for any inconvenience these essential

works may cause. However, if you have any additional questions or concerns, please visit

www.networkrail.co.uk  or telephone our 24-Hour National Helpline on 08457 11 41 41.

Yours sincerely

Sarah McArdle
Community Relations Manager
