Our AGM was addressed by David Powell - Director of Rolling Stock Procurement at Merseytravel and new Chairman - Mark Warren took the helm.
At the Annual General Meeting of the NCRUG on Wednesday the 19th October, David Powell, who has wide knowledge of the railway industry project delivery, gave a presentation on the current rolling stock procurement for "Merseyrail".
This very interesting presentation covered all aspects of rolling stock purchase.
These covered many topics but included information gathering on passenger preferences, peak periods for travel on "Merseyrail" trains (which is a Saturday!), power supply upgrades, European requirements for tendering, supplier interest, loading gauge and platform interfaces and clearances.
The future area of operating area for the trains will be lead to innovation and expand the current boundaries of "Merseyrail".
It provided a wonderful insight into the process and the actual trains are awaited with interest.
At the subsequent AGM Janet Briggs, stood down as Chairman, after eight years of sterling service to be replaced by Mark Warren who will lead the NCRUG in future.
Mark commenced his Chairmanship by thanking Janet for her hard work and her achievements at Frodsham Station and also through ACoRP and for raising the profile of NCRUG to a national level and proposed and led the Vote of Thanks.
Mark, a former Frodsham Town Councillor and railway supporter looks forward to leading NCRUG within the proposed North Cheshire Community Rail Partnership which should mould railway passenger services in future while we work closely with other stakeholders in the locality.
