New Franchises

Announced today, the Franchise allocation announcement NCRUG has been waiting for.
The Government has awarded the Northern Franchise to "Arriva Rail North" and the TransPennine Express franchise to "First Trans Pennine Express".
This should lead to improved services across the region with new services from Leeds to Chester.
This new service will reduce overcrowding on our route and with investment in stations, new rolling stock and state of the art ticketing systems things will improve.
However, all this will take time to introduce and with railway industry time scales this will take a year or three to achieve.
