A look back at the early days NCRUG and its first chairman ....
On 4th July, the "Parliamentary Train" which runs sixteen times a year and normally runs non stop from Chester to Runcorn (Main line) only, was extended, courtesy of "Northern Rail", to Liverpool South Parkway with extra stops at Helsby and Frodsham.
Over forty passengers accompanied by a small film crew made the journey in support of NCRUG’s campaign to see the Halton Curve restored to bi-directional working with a regular hourly service.
Passengers boarding at Frodsham included: Graham Evans, Member of Parliament for Weaver Vale, together with Cheshire West and Chester Borough Councillors and Frodsham Town Councillors.
It was an early start from Chester but as the ‘Branch Line Society’ said, “it's almost a party atmosphere aboard". We look forward to the "Halton Curve" re-opening in the foreseeable future following the recent publication of the Outline Business Case by Merseytravel.
Remember the 07.53 Chester to Runcorn (Parliamentary Train) runs every Saturday until 5th September 2015.
If you miss out on this you will have to wait until next May before the train runs again.
Enjoy Halton Curve while you can on one of the sixteen occasions it runs this year!
