Travel Watch North West Conference

8th October 2015

Several NCRUG Committee Members attended the TWNW Conference today (8th October 2015) held at the Merseytravel Offices at 1 Mann Island, Liverpool.

The Meeting was opened by Councillor Liam Robinson, Chair Merseytravel and the Keynote Speaker was David Brown, Chief Exec. & Director General Merseytravel.

Discussions centred on the new "Rail North" devolved administration and how this would give control and funding in the North of England and the Northern "Powerhouse".

It was interesting that three Speakers during the day mentioned and focussed on the opening of Halton Curve and how this would be a driver in the future for connectivity in the North West.

The third speaker, was incidentally, Robin Tudor Head of PR and Communications at Liverpool John Lennon Airport who expressed gratitude for the persistence of NCRUG in pushing for the reopening of Halton Curve.

We look forward to further progress!
